GVEA Election Results

Voters in Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) District 6 elected Fred Sheen to the utility’s Board of Directors. Sheen will replace John Sloan, a 15-year Board member who chose not to run for re-election. District 6 members returned 360 out of 2001 possible ballots for a turnout of 18 percent. In District 5, current Director Chris Bunch was reappointed to his seat after the other nominated candidate withdrew from the election in April.

Sheen, a retired lineman and supervisor at GVEA, and a volunteer with the Rural Deltana Fire Department, received 46.7 percent of the vote, defeating fellow candidates Eileen Williams and Peter Hallgren. He will join the GVEA Board at their June 28 meeting. GVEA members in Districts 1, 2, and 3 will choose Directors to represent them in 2023.
