Call for Candidates for Cooperative Board Elections

Three of the four Railbelt electric cooperatives, along with the Copper Valley Electric Association, have put out calls for candidates for their 2023 board elections and made applications available. Elections will be held during the spring of 2023.


Members of Chugach Electric Association (CEA) will be electing two members to its board for four-year terms. Applications to the nominating committee are due Tuesday February 7 at 5 p.m. The deadline for petition nominations has not yet been announced. Proposed bylaw changes are also due on February 7. Applications and information about the 2023 Chugach board election can be found here. CEA is scheduled to hold its Annual Meeting on Friday May 19.

Members of Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) will electing directors for Districts 1, 2, and 3 for three-year terms. Applications to the district nominating committees are due on January 18 at 5 p.m. (each district has its own nominating committee). Applications for candidates nominated by petition are due March 1 at 9 a.m. GVEA has not yet announced the date of its Annual Meeting. More information is available here.

Members of Homer Electric Association (HEA) will elect directors representing Districts 1, 2, and 3 for three-year terms. HEA has not yet announced election deadlines or made applications available. HEA’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 4 at 4:30 p.m.

Members of Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) will be electing two at-large directors in 2023 for four-year terms. Candidate applications are due on February 3 at 5 p.m. Applications and election information can be found here. MEA has not yet announced the date of its Annual Meeting.

Members of the Copper Valley Electric Association (CVEA) will be electing one director from the Valdez District and one from the Copper Basin District, each for a three-year term. Applications are due on February 9. More information can be found here. The deadline for nominations to the Board of the Arctic Village Electric Cooperative has already passed.
